Although you wouldn’t necessarily know it from my blog thus far, one thing I’m starting to get a name for is my ridiculously elaborate dinners. Each week, I plan out a week’s worth of meals, print out the menu, and stick it on the fridge. This practice gets tons of comments whenever we have people over, and the comment “Can I come over for dinner on {insert day of week here}?” is a frequent one. The funny thing about all of this is that I am not really that good of a cook– I just have good sources, and I also know that it’s a lot easier to make yourself come home and cook (as opposed to going out) when you have something exciting waiting for you. Anyways, about 90% of what I make consists of variations on recipes I have found at the following places, and I am posting them here so that everyone else can enjoy cooking success and so that they can see it has nothing to do with my cooking talent, but my think-ahead skills:
- Cooking Light (most nights)
- Food Network (once or twice a week)
- Recipezaar (rarely, and usually only for desserts)
A couple of my favorite recipes (although not necessarily elaborate) are:
- Maple-Mustard-Glazed Balsamic Steaks with Blue Cheese-Pecan Confetti
- Curried-Chicken Potpie
- Key Lime Pie Ice Cream
- Thai Shrimp Bisque
- Bittersweet Chocolate Souffles
So go ahead and try some of them, and you’ll see that you, too, can cook semi-elaborate stuff!
